Join Ken Hertzog and other wood turners for an evening of crafting turned items from wood and more. No experience necessary. Classes meet from 6 pm-9 pm on

Thursday . Must be 18 or older to participate. Class size is limited to 7 participants.

Join artist, Courtney McNamara, for ART ATTACK, a weekly get together to create art of all kinds, socialize and make new friends. The group meets from 10-noon on Thursdays at The Art Center. The cost to attend is $10 which includes all materials unless noted otherwise. A discounted cost is available when you register for the entire month. Attendance every week is not required. While you're there, you can enjoy some hot drinks from The Butler Coffee Lab's selection of unique and delicious coffees, teas, and lemonades. You will be pleasantly surprised! For teens to adults.

Watercolor exists as a most primitive of expressive art forms. Participants in this class will use color in its hue, intensity, and value to experience the process of representing what they see onto a 2 dimensional plane. Color mixing and application techniques will also be explored. For teens to adults. 

This will be a six week course, starting April 27th-June1st for kids from kindergarten through second grade (12:30-1:30), and third to sixth grades (1:30-3:00). During this course, they will learn some art basics and skills using a variety of mediums. All supplies included in the cost.

Whether you have experience sewing or not, we would love to have you! The blankets we will be making will be very basic and collaborative, with some people sewing, some ironing, some cutting out squares, etc. If you have fabric scraps that you'd like to donate for the cause, that would be wonderful as well! The plan right now is to meet on Thursday afternoons from 1-3 starting in February. We will plan to donate the blankets to local places in need in the community. All ages welcome.

Meeting Tuesdays for this three week course starting April 9th, dive into the captivating world of handmade paper creation using innovative Gelli printing methods in this dynamic collage class. Students will embark on a creative journey, learning how to transform ordinary pulp into unique sheets of textured paper imbued with personal flair and artistic expression. By the end of the class, students will have developed a diverse portfolio of handmade paper creations, each infused with their unique artistic vision. Meets from 6-8PM, all supplies included. For teens to adults.

Embark on a creative journey that merges the ancient art of Gyotaku printing with the expressive medium of watercolor painting. In this class, you'll learn the traditional Japanese technique of Gyotaku, which involves transferring the intricate details of fish onto paper. Through hands-on instruction, you'll explore the process of inking fish specimens and pressing them onto paper, resulting in unique prints that capture the essence of marine life, followed by watercolor painting. Two day course, May 28th and June 4th, from 6-8PM. For teens to adults.

 Starting April 17th, we are offering a 6 week course to teach you all you need to know about creating your own pottery, from throwing, spinning, glazing, and firing! Each student will come home with their own original piece. Price includes studio/class fee with an additional fee for materials. Wednesday evenings, 5:30-8:30. Students are encouraged to bring an old apron or t-shirt to protect their clothing.

$180/student, 12student limit (additional $35 for clay). For  older teens to adults.

In this class we will draw using classic line and tone techniques and explore different media and approaches to mark making and image making. It will be a mixture of traditional and experimental or esoteric attitudes to drawing.  The class is taught by a regional exhibiting artist and teacher who has taught similarly in Community College of Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh. The classes build upon each other, so taking all five is essential. (No drop in/ drop out) For teens to adults.

Crochet is a wonderful art form that lends itself to colorful and interesting creativity.  In this class, you will learn all of the essentials necessary to get acquainted with hand crocheting.  Skillsets developed will be foundation rows, increasing, decreasing, and finishing.  By the end of the class, you should have a completed project to take home with you!  Bring size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook, and a worsted weight skein of cotton yarn, or supplies can be purchased for a $10 materials fee. This is a one time class offered twice.
Ages 16+

Do you want to take your crochet craft to the next level?  We will discuss crocheting in the round, garments, and free form crochet techniques.  Pre class homework required, see below:            
  Crochet foundation of 24 chain stitches            SC (single crochet) for 3 inches, and do not finish off.
Ages 16+

In this one time, 2.5 hour session, the basics of clay management and handling will be presented, including wedging, rehydration, slipping, slab construction and throwing. Students will create a hand-built piece after various projects are demonstrated. All materials will be provided for this session including firing and glazing. A prerequisite class for future pottery classes. 10 student limit. Materials included in cost. For older teens to adults.
